Name: Emily
Birthday: 5/1/1984

Interests: Science nerd, right here! I heart animals too. Yay for soccer (go MTSU Women's Club team, and my intramural team Blue Crew!), reading books that are not required for class, photographs and photography, and I can't think of anything else.....but of course, there's a ton more.
Expertise: at this age, can I really be an expertise already? I'd have to say I've mastered sleep pretty well, and can make a mean grilled cheese (as well as other things, really). I'm supposed to show-up Nicole in baking a chicken pot pie in the near future for some reason. I'll have to let you know how that goes....

The Best of Simon & Garfunkel

well poo, it's been over a month. HAPPY 2006 EVERYONE!

The end of the semester was a long time ago, I forget.

I had my interview at Ohio State over the break for Vet School, still waiting to hear about my status as far as getting in post interview. The people in the office there frustrate me.

Back in the boro for the LAST SEMESTER, yup yup, I graduate in May, hooray.

I think that's it for now folks, woot woot Area 1.

When My Heart Finds Christmas

Yesterday was quite a day of ups and downs. If you really want to hear the story, I'll be glad to fill ya in. Just want to note a highlight though!

I got my letter for Ohio State University's Vet school, I have an interview over the christmas break! I'm stinkin excited, and can't believe it's sooo soon! I'll be sure to update about how it goes down. Stay tuned.

It's the "study day" and I have nothing to study, so I'm gonna go goof off .

Brooke, yes I miss Ohio sometimes....I heart snow, you don't fully understand how much you appreciate it until you don't ever see it anymore!

So I said I'd be back....and well, here I am...except 4 days later. Not a whole lot goin on. Work to do, as usual. Procrastination, as usual.

My one plug: Women's Chorus winter/holiday concert, TOMORROW, Thursday Dec. 1st, 7:30pm Wright Music Building Auditorium. We're doing lots of holiday specials, it's gonna be great. Last one for the semester, be there or be a square!

I'm thoroughly ready to be done for the semester, I previously did not (believe it or not) have these feelings until this past weekend. I miss my family, and I usually do, but not this badly. *sigh* I dunno.

Side note of randomness, one of my kitties at home had surgery today. He had a bite from another animal (we assume cat) that had absessed. It got all infected and now it has a drain, and he has an E-collar. Poor kitty, mom says he's really restless with the e-collar.

Thanks for sticking with me on this random post, sorry for wasting your time .

The Notebook
By Nicholas Sparks

It definitely snowed when I was in Ohio, dude, pretty much a snow storm. Getting back from the airport wednesday was a slow snow-filled adventure. I'm back in the volunteer state, hanging out with myself. All this quiet time amplifies my thoughts, and I'm brought to journaling it all out in hopes the wheels within my mind will pause to embrace the moment of realization and contemplation.

I've been reading a lot the last week or so, and both books, I Kissed Dating Goodbye and The Notebook, relate somehow to each other in my mind. After finishing reading 'I kissed dating goodbye' a mere 2 days ago, it brought perspective into my life about the couples I know, my family, and my motives for relationships with guys.  Now is the time to embrace my single-ness, when in my life am I ever going to have the opportunity to do so again? If my energy is spent aimlessly looking for "the one" then I never prepare myself spiritually for the very relationship I hope to have someday. The life-long relationship that needs to put God first, and each contributing person needs to have God placed first in their own lives for that to be possible. It seems too difficult. In society, romantic relationships seem to focus on so much of what "I" want. People seek relationships to find something they are looking for to satisfy themselves. Sure, once they find attraction, and mostly a physical relationship, deeper feelings develop and they begin to give of themselves to the other person. The focus changes from you to the other person in the relationship. Of course, this is not how it always works, but we see it all the time in movies, magazines, and tv.  Reading and watching "The Notebook" just makes me sick. A lot things in the story that spark all ages of females attentions, but all for the wrong reasons.  Looking at recently married couples in my life, the book pointed out certain things that tend to happen in relationships and I realized why I felt so uneasy about those particular things. Not that these people that I love and care for deeply did things "wrong", but seeing it lived out wants me to attempt and pray that things will go differently for me. I have a million more things to get out, but alas it's time for rounds. Expect another visit from me for the duration, t-minus 39 hours and counting.  Oh, and if something has been rolling around in your mind about stuff I've said...email me or something, let's talk!

I Kissed Dating Goodbye

YAY Brooke, I hope it snows when I'm in the buckeye state for thanksgiving!

I officially just finished my first ever 5K race. I certainly didn't "race" nor did I really know what kind of stragedy to use. Whatever stragedy or lack there of I used this time, could have definitely better focused my energy. Oh well! I'll know for next time! I even ripped off my little name part off my number before the race started, then read the part where it says "do not remove prior to the race", HA! Someone could have warned me .

Got back yesterday from the club soccer national championships. We left wednesday, played 2 days of soccer, and came back. Good 'ol Alabama. I was definitely worn out and pretty out of it yesterday. I tried to reserve energy for today's "race" but I don't know if I really did.

I really don't have much. Been reading this book, it's got tons of really good points and makes me rethink a lot of things in my relationships and though patterns. Just have 2 days of class and a test on wednesday for this week. Friggin excited to fly back to Ohio in hopes of seeing some SNOW.  Meeting up with my newly married chica, and seeing the family. I hope to see the new Harry Potter movie too, cuz I totally missed seeing it with my fellow RA's at the IMAX in nashville this weekend cuz I was gone.  Then my last 2 duty days are friday and saturday after turkey day, heck yes. I have so much to get done during those 48 hours. 2 scientific research papers, another scientific research summary, 5 page paper for sm. group comm.....let's hope i stay motivated to do it all.

I gots nothin else...my body aches, and i think i have no energy left but for a nap. woo-hoo
